An elderly man died Christmas Day, one week after he was hit by a vehicle in east Birmingham.

Authorities said Cecil Wayne Joyce, 82, was a pedestrian when he was struck at 7:25 a.m. on Dec. 18. The crash happened in the 800 block of Sunhill Road N.W. in the Center Point area.

Joyce died at 8:04 a.m. Wednesday at UAB Hospital, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

Additional details have not been released.

Birmingham police are investigating.
