80-year-old woman killed, 2 others injured in Tuscaloosa County head-on crash

An 80-year-old woman was killed in a head-on crash Saturday that also injured two others.

Alabama State Troopers on Sunday identified the victim as Barbara J. Kornegay of Chilton County.

The wreck happened at 2:30 p.m. on Alabama 171, about 16 miles north of Tuscaloosa in Tuscaloosa County.

Trooper Cpl. Reginal King said Barbara Kornegay was a passenger in a Nissan Rogue that collided head-on with a Ford F-150 driven by 71-year-old James M. Hollingswoth of Lamar Kennedy.

Barbara Kornegay was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the Nissan, 81-year-old Frederick Kornegay, and another passenger, 87-year-old Anne N. Churchwell, of Sylacauga, were both taken to DCH Regional Medical Center. The severity of their injuries was not released.

The investigation is ongoing.
