7th grader dies after suffering ‘medical emergency’ at Alabama middle school

A seventh-grader at a north Alabama medical school died after experiencing a “medical emergency” at the school Tuesday, the principal said Wednesday.

“Yesterday, Morgan Williams, a 7th grade student, experienced a medical emergency on campus and sadly passed away. This loss has and will raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school, especially our students,” Shannon Brown, the principal of Liberty Middle School in Madison, said in a letter to parents Wednesday, according to WAFF.

Brown could not immediately be reached to confirm the station’s report.

In the letter, Brown said the school will have counselors available for students who need help following Morgan’s death.

“We are saddened by this loss to our school community and will make every effort to help you and your child as needed,” the principal continued. “Please keep the Williams family in your thoughts.”

Don Webster, a spokesman for Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc., told WAFF that authorities responded to the school’s football field around 2:47 p.m. Tuesday.

Webster could not immediately be reached by AL.com.
