A 76-year-old man died Monday, a week after he was injured in a Jefferson County crash.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the fatality victim as James Timothy Capps. He lived in Adamsville.

The wreck happened Aug. 14 in the 6000 block of Birmingport Road in Mulga.

Authorities said Capps was the driver and the lone occupant involved in a single-vehicle crash. No additional details were released.

He was taken to UAB Hospital where he remained until his death at 12:55 p.m. Monday.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the wreck.
