A Mississippi man was killed early Friday in a Chilton County crash.

Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim as Robert E. Johnson. He was 73 and lived in Price, Miss.

The wreck happened about 5:20 a.m. on Interstate 65, about three miles south of Jemison, said Trooper Sgt. Jeremy Burkett.

Authorities said Johnson was driving a Chevrolet Suburban that left interstate and hit an unoccupied pickup truck on the shoulder.

Johnson was pronounced dead on the scene.
