An Anniston man has died one week after he was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 459.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday identified the victim as Timothy Wayne Thomas. He was 72.

The wreck happened at 3 p.m. Oct. 24 on I-459 at Grants Mill Road in Irondale.

Authorities said he was the driver and only occupant of a 2023 Nissan Altima. Additional details of the circumstances surrounding the wreck were not released.

Thomas was taken to UAB Hospital. Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said Thomas pronounced dead at 11:55 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Alabama State Troopers worked the crash.
