A suspect is in custody after leading police on a chase Monday afternoon.

The pursuit started at 3:31 p.m. in Homewood at Columbiana Road and Green Springs Highway. Officers spotted a man wanted on outstanding warrants.

The suspect, driving a white SUV, refused to stop.

The chase wound through Homewood and Birmingham, lasting seven minutes.

It came to an end when the fleeing man struck another SUV at 18th Street North and !5th Avenue North in Birmingham.

No injuries were reported.

Homewood police Sgt. John Carr said the suspect was already wanted on attempting to elude and certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.

The investigation is ongoing. The suspect’s identity has not yet been released.
