Huntsville police say a pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday night.

The incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of University Drive and Sparkman Drive.

Garry Woods, 67, was walking in the roadway outside a designated crosswalk, police said, when he was struck. He died from his injuries.

The driver remained at the scene after the collision.

The Traffic Homicide Unit does not anticipate charges will result from the incident.
