65-year-old suspect charged with murder after body found in Montgomery

A shooting in Montgomery on Monday left one man dead and another behind bars.

Police and fire medics were dispatched at 12:50 p.m. to a report of a body found in the 2100 block of Plum Street. They arrived to find a man who had been shot already dead on the scene.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Maj. Saba Coleman said 65-year-old Kevin Chase was quickly identified as a suspect. She did not say what led authorities to Chase, or the potential connection between the suspect and the victim.

Chase is charged with murder. He is being held without bond in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.

The victim is Montgomery’s 36th homicide this year.
