6,229 pounds of jerky from Alabama company recalled

Ready-to-eat jerky products from an Alabama-based company are being recalled.

Some 6,229 pounds of jerky products from Hickory Hollow Jerky of Eufaula have been recalled due to being produced without federal inspection, according to an announcement from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The beef jerky and bacon jerky products were produced on various dates between Jan. 19 – Aug. 21, 2024.

The products subject to recall are:

  • Hickory Hollow Beef Jerky – Jamaican Jerked (3.25 oz plastic bag)
  • Hickory Hollow Beef Jerky – Original (3.25 oz plastic bag)
  • Hickory Hollow Beef Jerky – Hot Shot (3.25 oz plastic bag)
  • Hickory Hollow Beef Jerky – Peppered (3.25 oz plastic bag)
  • Hickory Hollow Beef Jerky – Jalapeno Original (3.25 oz plastic bag)
  • Hickory Hollow Beef Jerky -Sweet Heat BBQ (3.25 oz plastic bag)
  • Hickory Hollow Beef Jerky – Macho Nacho (3.25 oz plastic bag)
  • Hickory Hollow Beef Jerky – Honey Mustard Bacon Jerky (2.8 oz plastic bag)
  • Hickory Hollow Beef Jerky – Honey Original (3.25 oz plastic bag)
  • Hickory Hollow Beef Jerky – Teriyaki (3.25 oz)

The product labels can be viewed here.

The products were shipped to retail locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Oklahoma. The products were also sold on the internet.

Consumers who have products should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.

So far, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, according to the USDA. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
