Authorities have released the name of a man who was fatally shot in Argo.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified the victim as Benjamin Craig Sharpton. He was 62.

Sharpton’s ex-wife, 58-year-old Grace Dunaway Yancey, is charged with murder.

The shooting happened at 10:20 a.m. Friday in the 8800 block of Gadsden Highway. Sharpton was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:35 a.m.

Details surrounding the shooting have not been released. The couple divorced in 2008.

Argo police asked the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office to lead the probe.

Yancey was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 3:26 p.m. and remains held without bond.
