A 62-year-old man was killed in a crash with a school bus Friday afternoon in Calera.

The Shelby County Coroner’s Office on Saturday identified the fatality victim as Tracy Dyck. He lived in Calera.

The wreck happened about 3:30 p.m. at an intersection on Smokey Road near the Stone Creek subdivision. Authorities said the bus had just left Calera Middle School.

Dyck was airlifted to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Several students received minor injuries.

“Please respect and remember the family that tragically lost a loved one yesterday,’’ said Calera Police Chief David Hyche.

Shelby County’s Traffic Homicide Task Force is investigating the crash.
