6-year-old among 2 injured when vehicle hit by train in Lee County
Two people, including a child, were injured when their vehicle was hit by a train Wednesday night in Lee County.
The crash happened at 7:40 p.m. on Lee County 633 near U.S. 280, about seven miles east of Opelika.
Alabama State Trooper Sgt. Jeremy Burkett said 49-year-old Gwendolyn Enzlow, of Montgomery, was driving a Nissan Cube that was struck at a railroad crossing by a Norfolk Southern train.
Enzlow was transported to Piedmont Medical Center in Columbus, Ga., for treatment.
A 6-year-old passenger in the Enzlow’s vehicle was also taken to a hospital for treatment.
The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
The investigation is ongoing.
