6-year-old Alabama boy shot by brother, mother arrested
Lanett police say a six-year-old boy was seriously wounded by his brother Thursday night.
The incident happened about 9:40 p.m. in the New Jackson Heights community, according to police.
The child was transported from the scene and taken to be airlifted to a trauma center.
The child, whose name has not been released, was shot by his adolescent brother, who “gained control of an unsecured firearm in the residence and discharged it,” police stated in a news release.
The child was wounded in the abdomen.
Police took the mother into custody on charges of reckless endangerment. The woman’s name was not released.
