6 people wounded in shooting in Lanett
Six people were shot Thursday night when gunfire erupted in a Chambers County neighborhood.
Lanett police officers responded at 9:41 p.m. Thursday to a report of a shooting at 1912 50th Ave. S.W. in Lanett.
When they arrived on the scene, they found six people suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a press release issued by the department early Friday.
Few details surrounding the shooting or the victims have been released, but authorities said medical treatment was provided by Lanett Fire and EMS, East Alabama Fire and EMS, East Alabama Medical Center EMS and Huguley Fire.
The victims were taken to multiple different hospitals. The severity of the injuries was not immediately available.
Police said they located a secondary scene nearby that was related to the initial call.
The investigation is ongoing. The Valley Police Department, Chambers County Sheriff’s Department and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency assisted in the case.
