Authorities have released the name of a man found shot to death at a Center Point apartment complex.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Phillip Edward Lankford. He was 59.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 9 a.m. Sunday to Shadowood Circle on a report of a body found near a stairwell at an apartment complex.

Lt. Joni Money said deputies arrived to find Lankford had sustained a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:26 a.m.

It wasn’t immediately clear when Lankford was shot. The investigation is ongoing.
