An east Alabama man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Calhoun County.

Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim John L. Pruitt. He was 55 and lived in Ohatchee.

The wreck happened at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday on Alabama 144, about two miles east of Ohatchee.

Senior Trooper Vu Quang said Pruitt was driving a Lincoln Town Car that left the road, struck a ditch, overturned and hit a tree.

Quang said Pruitt was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Troopers are investigating.
