54-year-old pedestrian struck, killed on I-20
A pedestrian was struck and killed early Wednesday while walking on Interstate 20 in Irondale.
The crash happened at 3:05 a.m. on I-20 near the Interstate 459 interchange, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the 54-year-old Leeds man was walking eastbound on the shoulder when he was struck. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene at 3:59 a.m.
His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
Alabama State Troopers are investigating.
