54-year-old pedestrian fatally struck on I-20 now identified
Authorities have released the name of a pedestrian who was struck and killed while walking on Interstate 20 in Irondale.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Jonathan Allen Skinner. He was 54 and lived in Leeds.
The crash happened at 3:05 a.m. Wednesday on I-20 near the Interstate 459 interchange, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said Skinner was walking eastbound on the shoulder when he was struck. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene at 3:59 a.m.
Alabama state troopers are investigating.
