A Leeds man is jailed in Shelby County on multiple charges of possession of child pornography.

The investigation began in November 2022 after the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The investigation led to the arrest of 54-year-old David Stephen West of Leeds. He is charged with 10 counts of “possession of obscene matter containing visual depiction of persons under 17 years of age involved in obscene acts.”

Charging documents against West state that in December, investigators found him in possession of multiple photos of prepubescent nude girls.

West was booked into the Shelby County Jail on Monday and remains held on bonds totaling $150,000.
