52-year-old Tuscaloosa man killed in collision with train in Birmingham

A man killed early Sunday when his vehicle was struck by a train at a Birmingham railroad crossing has now been identified.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the fatality victim as Anthony Dewayne Jones. He was 52 and lived in Tuscaloosa.

The crash happened at 1:11 a.m. Sunday in the 900 block of 15th Place S.W. Jones was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:29 a.m.

Authorities said he was the driver and lone occupant of a 2005 Lexus LS 430 that was hit by a train at the crossing.

Birmingham police are investigating.
