A 52-year-old man was killed Saturday in a single-vehicle crash in western Jefferson County.

The wreck happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Bessemer Super Highway.

Sheriff’s Lt. Joni Money said witnesses told investigators a black Nissan Armada passed another vehicle on the roadway, lost control and crashed.

The driver of the Nissan was ejected from the SUV. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team was called to investigate the fatal crash.
