$5,000 reward offered in 2023 killing of Montgomery woman fatally shot while asleep in bed
It’s been more than a year since a 52-year-old Montgomery mother was fatally shot while she was asleep in her bed, and authorities are not giving up hope of solving the case.
Central Alabama Crime Stoppers on Wednesday announced an increase in reward money for information leading to arrests in the killed of Yvette Carter.
The deadly shooting happened at 10:35 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023. Carter was found dead inside her home.
Investigators have said three suspects were seen exiting a small black sedan with factory rims before the shooting. All three were wearing hoodies.
One suspect was seen walking from the car wearing all black with a white or grey hood, black bottoms, and white shoes. He pulled a rifle from his pants.
Family previously said they believe Carter was killed by a stray bullet, WSFA reported.
Montgomery City Councilman Oronde Mitchell and Montgomery County Commissioner Carmen Moore-Zeiler have each donated $1,000 in reward money. Crime Stoppers as increased it’s offer to $3,000 for a total of $5,000.
“I want all residents to feel safe in the neighborhoods they live in,” Mitchell said.
“I stand with Yvette Carter’s family in seeking closure and justice for their loved one and all those impacted by senseless gun violence in our community,” Moore-Zeigler said.
