A Brighton man died Tuesday following a shooting in Lipscomb.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Reginald Johnson. He was 50.

Authorities said the shooting happened at 11:28 p.m. Monday in the 5700 block of 15th Street South in Lipscomb.

Johnson was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:43 a.m. Tuesday.

No additional details have been released. Lipscomb police are investigating.

It is Lipscomb’s first homicide this year. In all of Jefferson County, there have been 39 slayings, including the one in Lipscomb.
