Fall officially starts on Sept. 23, but organizers throughout Alabama aren’t waiting to celebrate the season. Fall fairs and festivals are already on the calendar, offering everything from Greek food to German beer to vintage motorcycles. Here are more than 50 events on our don’t-miss list, set for mid-September through mid-November.

SAINT GEORGE MIDDLE EASTERN FOOD FESTIVAL

What: Middle Eastern favorites such as baked kibbe, stuffed grape leaves, Mediterranean-style chicken, falafel, meat pies, spinach pies and pastries. Plus live music, dancing, church tours, vendors selling crafts and more.

When: Sept. 14-16. Hours are 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday-Sunday.

Where: Saint George Melkite Greek Catholic Church, 425 16th Ave. South, Birmingham.

Admission: Free, menu items $2-$23. Proceeds benefit local charities. Food at event is prepared by church volunteers using old family recipes. Festival offers drive-thru service, along with takeout food and on-site dining.

TRUSSVILLE DOG DAZE

What: Farmers market, food court, vendors, children’s activities, live music, car show, pup strut and more.

When: Sept. 16, 8 a.m.-noon.

Where: Trussville Entertainment District, 101 Beech St., to Veterans Memorial Park, 55 Parkway Drive, Trussville.

Admission: Free.

ALABAMA WINE FESTIVAL

What: Wine tastings, wine for sale, food trucks, music and more.

When: Sept. 16, 2 p.m.-6 p.m.

Where: Wills Creek Winery, 10522 Duck Springs Road, Attalla.

Admission: $30 advance, $40 at gate, free for designated drivers.

CRUSH WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL

What: Wine tastings, whiskey and spirits, demos, vendors, live music, grape stomping and more.

When: VIP tasting Sept. 22, 6 p.m.-8 p.m.; festival Sept. 23, 1 p.m.- 5 p.m. general admission, VIP entry at noon.

Where: Big Spring Park, 200 Church St., Southwest, Huntsville.

MONTGOMERY SMOOTH JAZZ FESTIVAL

What: Music lineup includes Stokley, Musiq Soulchild, The Whispers, Raheem DeVaughn, Angela Winbush, Eric Essix, Marion Meadows, Chieli Minucci, Jonathan Butler, Kirk Whalum, Kim Scott and more.

When: Sept. 22-23. Gates open at 4 p.m. Friday, noon Saturday. Music starts at 5 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. Saturday.

FURNACE FEST

What: Lineup of about 90 bands performs heavy rock, thrash, punk and metal. Acts include MxPx, Turnstile, Bane, Pennywise, Hatebreed, Head Automatica, Haste the Day, Anberlin, Enter Shikari, Between the Buried & Me and more.

CULLMAN OKTOBERFEST

What: Celebration of German heritage and culture, with food, beer, music, dancing, wiener dog race, 5K and 10K runs and more.

When: Sept. 28-30.

FIESTA

What: Fiesta touts itself as “Alabama’s largest celebration of Hispanic culture and heritage.” Event includes music, dance, performing arts, visual arts, children’s activities, soccer, cultural education, Latin food and more.

Where: Linn Park, 710 20th St. North, Birmingham.

CAHABA RIVER FRY-DOWN

What: Catfish cook-off, live music, food, games, photo booth, climbing wall and more. Benefit for Cahaba River Society.

ALABAMA COASTAL BIRDFEST

What: Workshops, boat tours, nature walks, kayak tours and more, presented by South Alabama Land Trust.

TENNESSEE VALLEY OLD TIME FIDDLERS CONVENTION

What: Music competitions, performances, old-time arts and crafts.
