5 witches rides for Halloween fun in Birmingham: No broom required

Leave your broom at home. You won’t need it to participate in a witches ride for Halloween, but a bicycle — preferably a decorated one — is required. As the spooky holiday approaches, organizers are making plans for several festive rides in the Birmingham metro area, and all of them benefit worthy causes.

Here are five rides that welcome pointed hats, colorful costumes, glowing lights and creepy accessories like bats, spiders, owls and cobwebs. Witches flying on bikes typically toss candy to children on their routes — from what we hear, it can be challenging to pedal and throw — and a good cackle is always appreciated.
