The skinny: Daphne leads the overall series 24-9, but Fairhope has won four of the last five. Two of those wins came in overtime and all were by a touchdown or less. … The Pirates are coming off their first loss of the season. Their offense is averaging 41 points a game behind senior QB Caden Creel. Creel has thrown for 1,278 yards and 8 TDs. He’s also been intercepted 8 times. He has 631 yards rushing and 7 TDs. Qualin McCants has rushed for 467 yards and 11 TDs. Ben Moseley (38 receptions, 490 yards, 2 TDs) is the team’s leading receiver. Tim Carter is one win shy of 150 for his career (149-83). He is 5-2 in seven games against the Trojans. … Daphne is coming off a bye week. The last time out, the Trojans built a 15-0 halftime lead on rival Spanish Fort before losing 18-15. They have scored 142 points and given up 123. All three of their wins are region wins, making them the only undefeated team in Region 1 play. Nick Clark has rushed for 695 yards and 9 TDs on 98 carries. QB Gabe Reynolds is completing 59 percent of his passes for 574 yards and 2 TDs. Stephon Blackshear (22 receptions, 200 yards) is the team’s leading receiver. He also has 2 rushing TDs. Garrett Childress and Jamarion Evans lead the Trojan defense with 62 total tackles apiece. Johnnie Perdue has 2 sacks and 8 TFL.

FOLEY (3-3) AT ALMA BRYANT (3-3)

Last week: Foley defeated Fairhope 39-38; Alma Bryant lost at Baker 27-6

Region records: Foley is 2-1 in Class 7A, Region 1; Alma Bryant is 0-3

The skinny: Alma Bryant has never beaten Foley (0-14). The Lions have outscored the Hurricanes 471-189 in the series. Foley won 37-0 a year ago. … Last week, the Lions rallied from a 38-22 second-half deficit to beat then-No. 2 Fairhope. Kolton Nero carried 17 times for 140 yards and two touchdowns and also threw a touchdown pass. Alabama junior WR commit Perry Thompson caught a pair of TD passes and also intercepted a pass in the second half. Thompson has 53 receptions for 594 yards and 9 TDs this season. Nero has 498 yards rushing and 5 TDs on 69 carries. Senior QB Reece Tynes is 108-of-180 for 1,103 yards and 13 TDs. He also has 2 rushing scores. LB Isaac Gamez (55 tackles) and DE AJ Prim (38 tackles, 4 sacks, 7 TFL) lead the defense. … Alma Bryant will be trying to end a 10-game region losing streak. The Hurricanes are averaging 18 points a game, while giving up 23. QB Christian Mose leads the Bryant offense. He has thrown for 564 yards and 5 TDs and rushed for 447 yards and 4 TDs. Isaiah Dixon has 426 yards on 69 carries and 67 yards on 16 receptions. He’s scored 4 total TDs. Defensively, Kurt Carden (46 tackles) and Reggie Moseley (43 tackles, 10 pressures, 2 sacks, 2 interceptions for TDs) lead Bart Sessions’ team.

The skinny: MGM leads the overall series 30-26-2, but Baker has won the last 12. The Hornets won 43-0 a year ago. … After an 0-4 start this year, the Vikings have won the last three games over Alma Bryant, Baldwin County and Davidson. It’s the team’s first three-game win streak since 2016. In last week’s win, QB Jared Hollins completed 77 percent of his passes for 321 yards and 4 TDs. James Bolton caught 9 passes for 236 yards and 3 TDs. For the season, Hollins is completing 70 percent of his passes for 1,634 yards and 18 TDs. He has been intercepted just twice. He’s also rushed for 4 TDs. Bolton has snagged 46 passes for 1,002 yards and 11 TDs. Keyshon Johnson (109 carries, 577 yards, 5 TDs) is the team’s leading rusher. … Baker snapped a 2-game losing streak last week with its win over Alma Bryant. Junior QB Josh Flowers is completing 62 percent of his passes for 995 yards and 5 TDs. He also has rushed for 817 yards and 10 TDs on 97 carries – an average of 8.4 yards per carry. Cam Ward (346 yards, 3 TDs) and Bryce Cain (302 yards, 1 TD) are Flowers’ top receiving targets. Senior LB Gary Byers leads the defense with 90 tackles.

MCGILL-TOOLEN (4-2) AT SPANISH FORT (4-3)

The Toros won 35-14 a year ago. … After starting the season 0-2, McGill has won its last four games with an average margin of victory of 22 points. Trey Inge has rushed for 577 yards and 3 TDs on 82 carries. QBs Aaden Shamburger and Andrew Murchison have combined for 1,124 yards and 10 TDs. They have been intercepted 5 times. South Alabama commit Anthony Eager has 32 receptions for 549 yards and 7 TDs. Roscoe Haywood has 22 receptions for 300 yards and 2 TDs. Defensively, the Yellow Jackets are led by Shemar Welch with 5 interceptions and Dylan Sauce with 91 tackles, 10 sacks and 11 tackles for a loss. … Spanish Fort has won two straight games by 3 points each – 18-15 over rival Daphne and 41-38 at St. Paul’s last week. Two of the Toros’ three losses came to unbeaten region rivals Saraland and Theodore. The other came to 1-loss Fairhope on the final play of the game. UAB commit Jake Godfrey has rushed for 9 TDs, including 4 last week, and has caught 2 TD passes. Sawyer Wilson leads the team in rushing with 803 yards and 7 TDs on 101 carries. QB Brayden Walker is completing 51 percent of his passes for 830 yards and 5 TDs. JoJo Hixon leads the defense with 39 tackles and an interception. Yorel Williams and Cole McConathy each have 4 sacks and 7 TFL.

The skinny: The two teams have never played. … Orange Beach has lost two of its last three games since opening the season 3-0. In last week’s loss to St. Michael, Cash Turner and Will Reddell connected for 3 TD passes. Turner was 9-of-16 for 237 yards and 3 TDs. He was intercepted once. He also scored 2 rushing TDs (10, 33). Reddell finished with 6 receptions for 182 yards. Lamarr Nelson had an interception for the Makos. UAB commit Chris Pearson had 2 sacks on defense, returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and blocked a field goal. Orange Beach coach Jamey DuBose is 141-42 overall in 15 years as a head coach. … After a 4-0 start, Bayside has lost consecutive games to Jackson (30-10) and T.R. Miller (28-3). Admirals’ QB Sammy Dunn missed both of those games due to injury. The Admirals managed just 70 yards and 3 first downs in the second half at T.R. Miller last week without Dunn. Bayside coach Phil Lazenby is 2 wins shy of 200 in his career (198-105 in 26 years).
