When a band from Alabama starts touting a song with the word “Birmingham” in the title, that immediately grabs our attention. And we’re all ears when it comes to “Birmingham Steel,” a song set for release on May 15 by Them Dirty Roses. The Southern rockers from Gadsden — lead singer James Ford, drummer Frank Ford, guitarist Andrew Davis and bassist Ben Crain — opened for Southall this week at Birmingham’s Iron City, and have another show set for May 18 at Chestnut Station in their hometown.

“‘Birmingham Steel’ was recorded in the iconic FAME studio and highlights Alabama’s steel industry as a metaphor for a solid, sturdy relationship,” a press release says. “The song was co-written by all four band members and collaborators Phillip White and James LeBlanc.”
