4th suspect charged in slaying of 30-year-old man during Tuscaloosa robbery

A fourth person has been charged in the Tuscaloosa shooting death of a 30-year-old man in late January.

Cadarious Williams, 29, was taken into custody Wednesday night. He is charged with felony murder in the killing of Demarkus Hall.

Those previously charged in Hall’s death are: Kyandre Grant, 44, capital murder and robbery; Rashad Aaron, 31, felony murder and robbery; and Jamil Prentice, 34, conspiracy to commit robbery.

Tuscaloosa police were dispatched at 10:24 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, to a report of shots fired at Landmark Apartments on Old Greensboro Road.

When officers arrived, they found Hall wounded inside his vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Hall did not live at the apartment complex but was visiting friends there.

Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Jack Kennedy said the investigation revealed that the victim was targeted for a robbery and was subsequently shot. Illegal drugs played a role in the case, he said.

Kennedy previously described the investigation as complex.

“The suspects have extensive criminal histories and took great pains to obscure their crime, destroy evidence, and elude capture,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy said multiple agencies took part in the probe.

The investigation is ongoing. Kennedy said while more arrests and charges are possible, investigators do not expect any more suspects to be charged with murder.
