An inmate died Wednesday morning at the Jefferson County Jail.

Deputies found the 49-year-old man unresponsive at 6:35 a.m.

Lt. Joni Money said medical personnel immediately responded to the location and administered life-saving treatment.  The inmate was unable to be revived.

Detectives responded to the jail to conduct an investigation.

His identity has not been released.

Money said there was no trauma indicated during the initial inspection and no foul play is suspected.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will make the final determination of the cause of death.
