48-year-old woman killed in Birmingham hit-and-run now identified
Authorities have released the name of a woman who was killed in a hit-and-run in west Birmingham nearly one week ago.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as April Rosella Barton. She was 48 and lived in Birmingham.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the woman was crossing the road Friday, Aug. 30, at Princeton Avenue S.W. and Lomb Avenue S.W. when she was struck at 10:30 p.m.
She was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:58 p.m.
The driver who struck her left the scene.
Birmingham police are investigating.
