A 48-year-old Childersburg man died Monday, one day after he was shot in Sylacauga.

Police identified the victim as Christopher Cornell Keith. He was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

Sylacauga police on Sunday responded to East Fifth Street near North Louisville Avenue to a report of multiple gunshots fired in the area.

Officers and Talladega sheriff’s deputies arrived to find two men wounded inside a vehicle, said Lt. Willis Whatley.

The second victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Whatley said the investigation is ongoing by Sylacauga police and the Talladega County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
