47-year-old ID’d as Walker County Jail inmate who died after suspected medical emergency

An inmate who died over the weekend at the Walker County Jail has now been identified.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency on Monday identified the inmate as Siras Jeremain Theus. He was 47 and lived in Jasper.

Jasper police arrested Theus on April 12 after he was accused of selling methamphetamine to an undercover officer, court records show.

At 9:15 p.m. Friday, April 19, Theus suffered a suspected medical emergency, said Senior Trooper Cody Farrar. He was pronounced dead at the jail.

Authorities said there were no signs of foul play. The body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for autopsy, which is standard procedure for in-custody deaths.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating.
