Authorities have released the name of a pedestrian fatally struck in Bessemer.  

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Roland Thomas Harris. He was 45 and lived in Bessemer.

The crash happened at 1:01 a.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of Ninth Avenue S.W.

Authorities said Harris was crossing multiple traffic lanes when he was hit by a vehicle. The driver stopped and called 911.

Harris was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:57 a.m.

Bessemer police are investigating.
