44-year-old woman identified as pedestrian fatally struck in Birmingham

Authorities have released the name of a woman who was killed when she was hit by a vehicle in Birmingham earlier this week.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Friday identified the victim as Misty Allen Tolbert. She was 44 and lived in Sumiton.

The crash happened at 9:17 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Daniel Payne Drive.

Authorities said Tolber was walking along the edge of the road when she was hit. The driver of the vehicle remained on site and called 911.

Tolbert was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:34 p.m.

The Birmingham Police Department is investigating.
