A 43-year-old man was killed late Sunday when he was hit by a vehicle in west Birmingham.

The deadly crash happened about 11:40 p.m. in the 1700 block of Bessemer Road.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:50 p.m.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said the vehicle that struck the man left the scene.

His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Birmingham police are investigating.

The man’s death is one of two fatal hit-and-runs over the weekend in Jefferson County. A Pleasant Grove man was killed Friday night on Bessemer Super Highway.
