A Verbena man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday in Chilton County.

Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim as Phillip L. Williams. He was 41.

The wreck happened at 6:11 p.m. on U.S. 31, about three miles south of Verbena.

Trooper Sgt. Jeremy Burkett said Williams was driving a Volkswagen Atlas that struck the rear of a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 35-year-old Kayla Montgomery of Jemison.

After the initial collision, the Volkswagen partially left the roadway and overturned.

Williams was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, Burkett said. He was ejected, and pronounced dead on the scene.
