A child died early Monday following a single-vehicle crash in east Birmingham.

The wreck happened at 11:50 p.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of Alton Road, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities said 4-year-old Ashley Beltran was one of four people inside the vehicle. All of the occupants were taken to area hospitals.

Ashley was pronounced dead at 1:26 a.m. Monday at Children’s of Alabama. No other details have been released.

Birmingham police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the wreck.
