Pittsburgh Steelers free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs, Washington Commanders core teamer Jeremy Reaves and Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II are members of the NFL Players Association’s first All-Pro team.

Fitzpatrick, Jacobs and Surtain are Alabama alumni, and Reaves played at South Alabama.

The NFLPA’s first all-star team was selected by the league’s players.

“Players compete against each other all season long, watching hours and hours of film week after week, and yet, we have never had an opportunity to truly use our expertise to select the best of us,” NFLPA President JC Tretter said in a statement released by the union. “We think it is important that players take the time to define ourselves, because so far we have allowed everyone else to either pick or dilute our voices.”

In the selection its first all-star team, the NFLPA did not allow players to vote for themselves or their teammates and excluded players who had missed five or more games through Week 15 of the season from consideration.

Players voted only for their position group and those groups that they line up against on the field. For instance, centers voted to select the best players at center, nose tackle, interior defensive line and off-ball linebacker.

For the special-team spots – or core teamers – two players were nominated for the ballot by each team.

The Players’ All-Pro Team selections for the 2022 NFL season included:

· Quarterback: Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs

· Running back: Josh Jacobs, Raiders

· Fullback: Kyle Juszczyk, 49ers

· Wide receivers: Justin Jefferson, Vikings; Davante Adams, Raiders

· Tight end: Travis Kelce, Chiefs

· Left tackle: Trent Williams, 49ers

· Left guard: Joel Bitonio, Browns

· Center: Travis Kelce, Eagles

· Right guard: Zack Martin, Cowboys

· Right tackle: Lane Johnson, Eagles

· Edge rushers: Nick Bosa, 49ers; Myles Garrett, Browns

· Nose tackle: Dexter Lawrence, Giants

· Interior defensive linemen: Chris Jones, Chiefs; Aaron Donald, Rams

· Off-ball linebackers: Fred Warner, 49ers; Roquan Smith, Ravens

· Cornerbacks: Patrick Surtain II, Broncos; Darius Slay, Eagles

· Free safety: Minkah Fitzpatrick, Steelers

· Strong safety: Derwin James Jr., Chargers

· Kick returner: Cordarrelle Patterson, Falcons

· Punt returner: KaVontae Turpin, Cowboys

· Core teamers: Jeremy Reaves, Commanders; Justin Hardee, Jets

· Kicker: Jason Myers, Seahawks

· Punter: Tommy Townsend, Chiefs

· Long snapper: Morgan Cox, Titans
