4-star in-state linebacker flips commitment from Auburn to Georgia

Auburn football’s 2026 recruiting class took another hit on Sunday, losing its second four-star linebacker commit in two weeks.

This time, it was Mobile native and Cottage Hill Christian Academy linebacker Shadarius Toodle, who confirmed his flip on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday by reposting his flip announcement from On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Toodle originally committed to Auburn on July 27,2024, during the Tigers’ annual Big Cat recruiting weekend. However, Georgia’s interest seemed to pick up during 2025, capped off with a visit to Athens on May 16, according to 247Sports.

When speaking with AL.com following South Alabama’s 7-on-7 tournament on June 17, Toodle said he was still committed to Auburn, but mentioned that Georgia, Michigan and Baylor were still recruiting him.

“I’m still talking it over with my family,” he said at the time. “We feel strongly about Auburn, but we have to look at all the options and make sure that is the best situation.”

Less than a week later, Georgia now has Toodle’s pledge, and Auburn’s 2026 class is down to six commitments. Toodle’s flip also comes 10 days after JaMichael Garrett, a fellow four-star linebacker, decommitted from the Tigers.

With Auburn’s 2026 class now down another player, it ranks 60th in the country in 247Sports’ team recruiting rankings.
