4 now charged with murder in 2022 slaying of Andalusia man

Four people have now charged with murder in the October shooting death of an Evergreen man in Andalusia.

Authorities on Tuesday announced the arrests of Derrick Demetrius Thomas, 20, Le’Morion Lorenzo Fantroy, 20, and Siyonesty Marchelle Gill, 19. The three suspects, all of Evergreen, are charged in the Oct. 19, 2022, fatal shooting of 22-year-old Treyvous Cobbins.

Teddy Donnell Cozart, 20, was arrested in Indiana in May after he was stopped for speeding by Indiana State Troopers. He has since been extradited and is being held in the Covington County Jail.

Thomas, Fantroy and Gill also are in the Covington County Jail.

Andalusia Police Chief Paul Hudson said Cobbins was found wounded when officers responded to reports of gunfire at the Foxwood Village Apartments. The victim was inside a vehicle.

He was taken via helicopter to a Florida trauma center where he was pronounced dead the next day.

The chief said additional arrests are expected.
