4 charged with manslaughter in connection with Baldwin County fentanyl overdose

Four people were charged with manslaughter in connection with the fatal fentanyl overdose of a female over the weekend in Baldwin County.

The suspects were identified by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office as Gerald Lee Anderson III, 27, of Spanish Fort; Madison Lee Hayek, 22, of Silverhill; Malia Autumn Decautur, 25, of Spanish Fort; and Roshell Michael Benson, 32, of Brewton, according to WKRG.

Efforts to reach the sheriff’s office by AL.com were not immediately successful.

The charges stem from a female’s fatal fentanyl overdose Saturday in Orange Beach, WKRG reported.

Orange Beach police referred questions to the sheriff’s office.

The four suspects were in a car stopped just south of Fairhope, according to WKRG.

The defendants had bond hearings on Monday.

Anderson, who was out on bond on unrelated charges, was given $100,000 bond and was ordered placed under house arrest along with GPS monitoring and drug testing, the network reported. He also has a bond revocation hearing on the unrelated case.

Hayek’s bond was set for $111,000 on manslaughter, drug possession, drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence charges.

Decautur’s bond was $50,000 on the manslaughter charge along with GPS house arrest and drug testing provisions.

Benson’s bond was $115,500 on charges of manslaughter, drug distribution, possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The defendants’ cases were not yet in online court records as of Tuesday.
