Consumers who bought a popular cough syrup could be eligible for money as part of a class action settlement.

Robitussin maker Haleon has agreed to pay $4.5 million to resolve claims it advertised the product as “non-drowsy” despite containing an ingredient that could cause sleepiness, TopClassAction reported.

To be eligible, customers must have purchased any Robitussin flavor that included dextromethorphan and was marketed as “non-drowsy.” The purchase must have been made between Feb. 16, 2016 and Jan. 21, 2025.

Haleon hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay the $4.5 million to settle the claims.

How much claimants will receive depends on if they have proof of purchase. If they do, they can submit up to three claims. Without proof of purchase, filers are limited to one claim. Exact payment amounts will vary depending on the number of claims filed but TopClassActions.com estimated it will be between $1.50 and $4.75 per claim.

The deadline to submit a claim is May 12. A hearing on the case is set for June 30.
