39-year-old motorcyclist killed in Northport crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a Jeep Liberty in Northport.

Police on Monday identified the victim as Matthew Bryan Mills. He was 39 and lived in Tuscaloosa.

The wreck happened at 8:17 p.m. Friday in the 3100 block of McFarland Boulevard.

Assistant Police Chief Keith Carpenter said Mills was driving a Yamaha Striker motorcycle westbound on McFarland Boulevard when he struck the rear of the Jeep that was also traveling west.

Mills was taken to the hospital but later pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing by the Northport Police Department Traffic Reconstruction Unit.

Carpenter said no criminal charge are pending at this time.
