A homicide investigation is underway Friday in Mobile after a 35-year-old man was found shot to death.

Mobile police officers responded to the 7000 block of Smith Street around 9:27 a.m. Friday on a report of a male shot, said Cpl. Katrina Frazier.

At the scene, officers found 35-year-old William Burton, who sustained a gunshot wound.

Burton was pronounced dead at the scene, Frazier said.

Police said they were not releasing further details on the homicide since the investigation is ongoing.
