34-year-old William Donaldson prison inmate found dead in cell
An inmate at William Donaldson Correctional Facility was found dead in his cell Thursday, the second to die at the prison this week.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the inmate as Keyone Ikem Arrington. He was 34.
Corrections officers found Arrington unresponsive in his cell during a routine safety check. The discovery was made at 6:47 p.m. Thursday, and Arrington was pronounced dead at 7:20 p.m.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said there was no evidence of trauma or foul play. The cause of his death remains under investigation pending further lab studies.
Arrington was serving a 25-year sentence for a robbery conviction out of Mobile County.
A 38-year-old inmate was found dead in his cell on Monday.
Arrington is the 28th Donaldson inmate to die this year. In 2022, 40 inmates died at the prison.
