A Winston County man is behind bars, charged in the death of his infant daughter.

Shannon Lee Stewart, a 33-year-old Double Springs man, was charged late Saturday night with capital murder, according to Sheriff Caleb Snoddy.

Amasia Faith Stewart, 2-months-old, was taken by ambulance Saturday to Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville. Winston County Coroner Tracey Holley pronounced the infant dead at the hospital.

No additional details have been released.

The sheriff said additional charges are pending, describing the investigation as “sensitive and ongoing.”

“Please pray for the family, S.O. staff and others involved at this time,’’ Snoddy said in a press release.
