32-year-old inmate dies at William Donaldson Correctional Facility
A state inmate died Monday night at William Donaldson Correctional Facility in western Jefferson County.
Lashun Cortez White, 32, was found unresponsive in his cell at 10:15 p.m., according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
White was taken to the prison infirmary where he was pronounced dead at 10:36 p.m.
The cause of his death is pending an autopsy. The Alabama Department of Correction – Law Enforcement Services Division is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
White was serving a 21-year sentence out of Houston County for first-degree robbery.
White is the 19th Donaldson inmate to die this year. In 2022, 40 inmates died at the prison.
