31-year-old man killed in overnight Birmingham shooting
An overnight shooting in Ensley left one man dead.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Literrance Leon Bratton. He was 31 and lived in Birmingham.
The shooting happened at 11:53 p.m. Sunday in the 2700 block of 30th Street in Ensley.
Bratton was rushed to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:08 a.m. Monday.
Additional details surrounding the shooting have not been released.
Bratton is Birmingham’s 30th homicide this year. As of May 18, 2024, there had been 52 homicides in the city.
In all of Jefferson County, there have been 45 homicides, including the 30 victims in Birmingham. At this time last year, there were 73 homicides countywide.
