3-year-old Georgia girl drowns after falling off dock in Alabama: ‘Horrible tragedy’
A 3-year-old Georgia girl drown over the weekend in an east Alabama Lake.
Kinley Nicole Anderson was with family at Weiss Lake in Cherokee County when she disappeared late Saturday afternoon.
Sheriff’s deputies, along with Leesburg Police and Fire, Cherokee County EMA, Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Marine Division and Atrium Floyd EMS responded to the scene.
The lake house was in the 400 block of Northwood Drive.
Kinley, authorities and family said, fell off the dock. Once found, she was taken to Cherokee Medical Center in Centre, where she was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m.
“Please join us in praying for the family dealing with this horrible tragedy,” Sheriff Jeff Shaver said in a news release.
Kinley’s aunt, Kellye Palas, has started a GoFundMe to help the family with the girl’s burial.
“We are asking for prayer for her amazing parents, grandparents, and family,’’ Palas wrote. “We are all shocked and unsure of how to help besides prayer and trying to take away the worry of funeral expenses.”
The GoFundMe has already raised more than $15,000. Donations can be made here.
